Frequently Asked Questions

To enjoy the rainforest comfortably, pack light and practical:

Comfortable, quick-drying clothing, swimsuit, and a waterproof jacket.
Closed-toe athletic or hiking shoes, and a hat or cap.
Bug-spray, sunscreen, and your reusable water bottle.
Flashlight (preferably a headlamp) and binoculars for wildlife viewing.

To ensure that you enjoy each experience with total comfort, at Yachana Lodge we will provide you with rubber boots of your size and waterproof ponchos for all activities that require it.

There are no mandatory vaccines to enter our reserve, although health authorities usually recommend the Yellow Fever one for the Amazon basin. We suggest bringing your own personal medicine kit with medicine for allergies or common ailments, since we are immersed in the jungle, far from urban pharmacies.

The Amazon has a tropical, warm and humid climate (23 °C to 33 °C all year round), divided by the level of rains and rivers:

Dry season (December - March): As the water level drops, the fauna concentrates in the main rivers. Excellent time to spot reptiles.
Rainy season (April - November): The water causes the fruiting of the trees, attracting a huge number of mammals, amphibians and birds. The rain does not stop the exploration!

At Yachana Lodge we open the doors of the Amazon to the whole family. Our facilities, activities and gastronomy are adapted to receive children from 2 years old and up. We firmly believe in inclusive tourism: we customize each experience to guarantee the comfort of guests with any type of special requirement.

Most of the journey takes place on paved roads and in excellent conditions. The last stretch is approximately 20 minutes along a rustic road (ballast/gravel) that connects with the Pucuno River, our meeting point. Access is completely safe for both high and low vehicles.

Any month is perfect to come to Yachana. The reserve is always green, lush and full of life, so you can observe incredible birds, monkeys and plants regardless of your travel date. In addition, all our expeditions are adapted to take place throughout the year; the tropical climate is an integral part of the adventure.

It will depend on the itinerary you choose, but each experience is designed for you to authentically connect with nature and local communities. Typical activities include:

Interpretive hikes through the jungle (daytime and nighttime).
"Tubing" tours along the Napo River and visit to waterfalls.
Bird and insect sighting safaris.
Immersive visit to regenerative farms and the Yachana Foundation.
Culinary experiences (chocolate making process and typical dishes along with the Kichwa community).

You will enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared with fresh and local seasonal ingredients. Each day, our chef creates a special fixed menu for you to experience authentic Amazonian gastronomy (we do not have à la carte service). However, if you have allergies, vegan/vegetarian diets or any dietary restriction, we will adapt your food without any problem with prior notice at the time of your reservation.

Being immersed in a 1,000-hectare reserve of primary and secondary forest, we find ourselves in direct contact with native wildlife. Out of respect for this fragile ecosystem, and so as not to put at risk either the local fauna or your pet, we do not admit the entry of pets to the Lodge. We appreciate your understanding; our highest priority is to protect biodiversity.

Yes. Yachana's corporate programs are designed in a personalized way according to the objectives of each organization: team integration, leadership, well-being, sustainability or executive meetings.

We combine outdoor workspaces with learning and coexistence experiences in the unique environment of the Amazon. The lodge has a capacity for up to 50 people and can be enabled exclusively for large groups.
